Your Breakfast at Casa de las Flores
Bed and Breakfast in Tlaquepaque
Beginning with a great breakfast at Casa de las Flores gets every day off to a wonderful start.
Imagine a fine restaurant serving a fixed menu and open only for the morning meal. That's the essence of breakfast at Casa de las Flores.
Creative and original dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients by a chef who learned about food at a great restaurant.
Starting the day with breakfast at Casa de las Flores invariably puts guests in a good mood, and it's a convivial time to get acquainted with fellow guests. Stan, Jose, or an English-speaking staff member are always on hand to answer questions about the cooking, gardening, art, culture and most importantly how best to enjoy the rest of the day.
Stan refined his culinary experience at Chez Panisse, Alice Waters' landmark restaurant in Berkeley, California, famous for serving the freshest organic ingredients at the peak of flavor. Stan continues that tradition, searching the markets for the freshest seasonal fruit, vegetables, cheeses, herbs and spices — which inspire the menu at Casa de las Flores.
All of our breakfasts are Vegetarian that include dairy and eggs. Breakfasts vary on alternate days in an effort to provide variety and please as many dining tastes as possible.
One morning guests are offered one of Casa de las Flores' signature dishes. Pictured here is one of your host and chef's creations. Locally grown Criollo summer squash that has been rubbed with butter and garlic and baked, then filled with creamed eggs with a fresh basil pesto sauce and smoked provolone cheese. Plated and garnished with fire-roasted sweet red and yellow peppers and rosemary smoked vegetables, and dressed with a silky creamed corn sauce made with roasted kernels of corn and pine nuts.
The following day enjoy our alfresco breakfast that could start with a chilled fruit soup made with coconut milk and a blend of seven tropical fruits, or a delicious seasonal fruit plate of sliced melon or papaya, some of the best pastries in the area baked in our last wood-fired ovens, freshly made guava juice or orange juice, a selection of cereals (you will be a convert to our bran flakes, not like the cardboard stuff I have had in the states), as well as bowls of delicious yogurts we frequently serve, such as yogurt with fig, raisin with cinnamon, honey yogurt with toasted pecans, or maybe a delightful bowl of blackberry yogurt. All this could be the day's breakfast offering.
Every morning steaming rich Mexican organic coffee is set out by 7;30 a.m. for our early risers. As well, a selection of herbal and black teas are a courtesy of the house day or night, available to guests at any hour.
Stan considers breakfast his gift to guests, a bit of personal creativity as one of the many details that makes a visit to Casa de las Flores special. Although it goes beyond the traditional bed & breakfast fare, the morning meal is included at no extra cost. Guests on special diets, however, may need to make alternate arrangements at one of the many fine restaurants if unable to enjoy the fixed menu of the day.
Here are some more dishes that your host has created over the years of preparing special breakfasts for his guests...

An original creation of delicately thin egg crepes filled with ricotta cheese and 3 other cheeses, sundried tomatoes, thyme, sauteed onions, garlic and porcini mushrooms. Then sauced with a mushroom cream and topped with toasted buttered breadcrumbs, pan roasted asparagus and spring vegetables with a confetti of rose petals, thyme and parsley.
Original breakfast creations from your host and chef are just some of the unique features of Casa de las Flores that set us apart from the crowd.
Other breakfast offerings that guests have enjoyed at Casa de las Flores include baked French toast, stuffed with brandied apples and pecans oven baked and sliced fried in butter and drizzled with maple cream and garnished with toasted walnuts, raisins, and a dusting of cinnamon.
Or Stan, your host and chef, could decide that it was time to serve a
classical Mexican dish like chili rellenos - large mild peppers stuffed
with a special three cheese blend, lightly battered and quickly fried,
served with an oregano tomato sauce and garlic rice.
Along with great personalized service, fascinating gardens, rooms
designed by an award-winning architect, filled with local folk art as
well as delicious gourmet breakfasts, I think you will realize that Casa
de las Flores is not only a great place to be but it is also of
exceptional value.
As if a fantastic tasting breakfast isn't enough, what a relaxing way to start the day by enjoying breakfast on the patio, looking out over the garden.
